Most of us when we attain the age of 60, contented with our achievements, tend to retire from the mundane activities of life and rejoice in the company of family and friends. 90 year old Smt Thurai Muruga Lakshmi is one such magnanimous individual, in fact one in a billion, on the lines of Chandrasekara Sarawathy Swamigal, Mahatma Gandhi, Anna, who has dedicated her blood and soul for the benefit of orphan kids and the specially challenged. Moved by the plight of bereft orphans, the specially challenged and the destitute, she founded this orphanage in Lakshmipuram, CTO Colony, Mudichur Road. With a passion to uplift the lives of the downtrodden, undeterred by age, she has been managing the trust that drives this home. This orphanage which was home to 2 physically challenged children way back in 1977 now houses 85 school going children, 50 aged people and 10 physically & mentally challenged people. An epitome of love and compassion towards fellow human beings, she is definitely an inspiration for those who wish to make a difference to the world they live in.
